A flexible two-day outline for arranging arrival, yatra time and departure around your group's pace.
Day one: arrive and get organised
Plan to reach Katra with enough time to check in, rest and review current yatra instructions. Keep identification, registration details and essentials together so your group is not searching for them at the last minute.
If you arrive late, consider keeping the evening light. A meal, a check of the next day's plan and a good night's rest can be more useful than adding extra sightseeing.
Day two: allow time for the pilgrimage
Set aside a generous part of the day for the yatra. The time required depends on the route conditions, crowd levels, weather, transport arrangements and how quickly your group prefers to walk. Avoid scheduling a tight onward connection immediately after your return.
Use the latest official Shrine Board information for route access, registration and facilities. Keep your group together and adjust the pace to the least mobile traveller.
If you have an extra day
An extra night in Katra creates a useful buffer if arrival is delayed or your group needs more rest. You can also look at Jammu city sights on a separate day, provided the timing fits your onward journey.
This is a planning framework rather than a fixed timetable. Your transport arrival, group needs and current yatra arrangements should determine the final schedule.
